Monkee’s of Highlands opened in May 2024, and is elevating the local shopping experience with its upscale women's apparel, along with a wide selection of shoes and accessories from leading fashion designers and brands. This new boutique is a stylish new addition to Highlands' vibrant Main Street. The store features a mix of new and classic brands such as Crosby, Emerson Fry, Farm Rio, Alden Adair, Premiata and many more. The selection of apparel and accessories at Monkee’s is curated with the idea that true style is about more than clothes, it is about self-expression and confidence.

TRAILBORN HIGHLANDS
A new hotel, Trailborn, is coming to Highlands this summer. Situated on the Highlands plateau in the Blue Ridge Mountains within the Nantahala National Forest, this newly renovated hotel and restaurant spans 4.5 acres of scenic woodland and offers 63 guest rooms. The guest rooms are designed for relaxation, and decorated thoughtfully with cherry wood, cream walls, and quilted tapestries depicting the Blue Ridge Mountains. In the rooms, guests can find custom parachute robes, Grown Alchemist bath products, Fellow kettles, portables coolers, a curated mini bar, Tivoli Bluetooth Radios, 50" Smart TVs and high-speed WiFi. The room amenities make preparing for an outdoor adventure easy and relaxing afterward even easier.
A unique feature of staying at Trailborn Highlands is the opportunity to partake in curated experiences from outdoor excursions like fly fishing and rock climbing to relaxing endeavors such as "Watercolors by the Pond" or "Forest Bathing on the Plateau". Whether you enjoy relaxing, getting outdoors, music, or learning a new recipe, Trailborn Highlands has something for everyone to further enhance their stay. If you're not one for getting out and about, the hotel has multiple spaces for socializing, getting work done or just enjoying time relaxing in the mountains. In addition to the renovated hotel, a historic log cabin restaurant called, "The Highlands Supper Club" will be opening on the property. The restaurant will serve Southern fare incorporating regional ingredients to bring dishes like Grilled NC oysters and Webb's Chicken Two-Ways. The renovated restaurant will maintain original architectural details like the unique fireplaces which will be complimented by wood finishes, cream plaster, deep green and butter yellow color palettes with accents of burnt orange and navy blue. HALEY’S FINE LINGERIE
Haley’s Fine Lingerie recently opened in April of 2024 and is bringing the ladies of the plateau a beautifully decorated new store with elegant, carefully chosen intimates, practical everyday pieces and more. Haley’s offers everyday lingerie, comfort bras, bridal wear, loungewear, swimwear and self-care items ranging from candles, perfume, satin pillowcases and laundry detergent for intimates. Customers can also get a personalized bra fitting for a more tailored experience, ensuring you go home with the perfect purchase.
The store is located just off of Main Street on Carolina Way and is a spacious and welcoming atmosphere. The dark wood interior and thoughtfully displayed merchandise creates the feeling of a comfortable yet elevated experience. The dressing rooms feature large mirrors with adjustable lighting and a comfortable seating area right outside. The open and comfortable design of the store makes for a relaxed shopping experience no matter the occasion. One Wicker Cheese Co. is bringing all things charcuterie and more to Highlands. Offering premium cheeses, cured meats, locally sourced pairings, cheese boards and more, One Wicker Cheese Co. is the one stop shop for the cheese and charcuterie lover. The store offers cut to order meats and cheeses ensuring the quality and freshness. Curated party boards are also available in various sizes and feature hand-selected ingredients. The boards are beautifully packaged for transport and contain regional and international meats and cheeses and other seasonal pairings. Another specialty offered by One Wicker Cheese Co. are their “Gift Hampers”, that are made to order and vary in size. The gift hampers are the perfect gift that highlight the seasonality of cheese and its many pairings as well as featured products in the shop. Sandwiches and snack boxes that feature products in the store are also available.

After spending ten years in the hospitality industry in Highlands, Sophie decided to introduce a new and unique offering to Highlands.
